This is not Camelot and Nash Farm sign debate?

I have heard (1) commissioner speak up against obtaining stimulus monies for Nash Farm, then they go ahead and persue it. I think we all know that Stimulus monies are not free, the county itself may get the money but it has to be paid back by every American that pays taxes, their children, their Grandchildren and on and on.

I heard the BOC just yesterday discussing taking out a LOAN to purchase the McDonough recreation/senior center. Sure it would be great to have BUT do we really need it? It looks like the current managers of the county pot have spent out splost funds before they have all been gathered. The contract has already been signed and now they have to honor the purchase. You should not agree to buy a property if you can not pay for it with the funds that were designated for that property. It is borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. This is how all these folks that obtained mortgages that were not able to sustain the payment got into trouble. No one can predict the future, our country is in a current crisis or does the BOC think they are immune to failures. I would think that most municipalities would be tightening the reigns on spending and especially those who face layoffs, pay cuts, furlows and foreclosures due to our current economy. Henry County is not immune. What will it take I wonder to get this county going in the right direction again. After all, this is not camelot and the Kennedy's do not live in this county.

The Veterans Wall of honor at Heritage park is a perfect example. I have seen the damages at this monument and I think it is a disgrace that those who are responsible for keeping this area in the condition in which it looked when constructed are not taking care now. The BOC has already publicly stated that they can not take care of what they have now as far as Parks. They are purchasing a new one and it will have to be maintained, it makes no practical since what so ever! What on earth will it take? for them to see the light.

Question: What ever happened to the NASH FARM SIGN? debate, has it been discussed any further? will they move the sign? will they change the name?

I just watched the Jan 5th 2010 Commission meeting and it looks like 2010 will see a business as usual attitude toward spending money they don’t have. And it looks like they will keep up the wool pulling also, trying to find loopholes to get funding that in the end we the tax payers will have to pay for. This why it is so important that we watch the Commissioners so close, so we will know what they are doing and how it will affect us in the long run. What ever happened to the concept of if you don’t have the money you save up for it then you buy? That is what I do and that is what the County Commission should do, they are no better than I am. 2010 is going to be a pivotal year as we look for new Commissioners in the 4th &5th districts we must have people that will represent all of the citizens not just a select few.

The sign at Nash Farms needs to be removed so the right history can be set forth and the lie put to rest so it never happens again. To lie about history where so many died for what they believed in, for the gain of money is so despicable that the County should be made to sell Nash Farm just to teach them a lesson. They acted like a child lets treat them like a child.

You are right, this is not Camelot but these Commissioners we have in office now think they are Kings and Queens to us the lowly taxpayers of Henry County. I just wish beheadings were still legal. So we must send them own their way by the ballet box this year and in 2012 or this County will die.

The Veterans Wall of Honor is something that needs to be maintained no matter what. Because it shows respect to those of our past and present Veterans that gave of themselves so we would remain free. I have seen the damage first hand and it is sad that just at a year after this was built it is in such sad shape. The County needs to step up to the plate and fix this problem. Sadly it may take a lot of time we at the CRG have been trying to work with the County on some of the Cemeteries that they are responsible for but some are not willing to work with us and some are. Both situations could get a boost with citizens getting involved and contacting the Commissioners about the problems at the site. Remember the Citizen’s Voices is the one thing the Commissioners fear because it could affect their jobs as Commissioners.

This whole thing is about counting your chickens before they are hatched. Buying things before they have the supposed money. The excuse of course being the downturn in the economy but that should have been figured into the equation if they are good with money. And as far as the Nash Farm sign it can be moved with a good fork lift and any good reliable sign maker can paint a sign for the park. Hey even the art class at any school can paint a sign for Nash Farm Park. This would be community involvement. But those in charge want to keep everything in the dark where they do their best work.
