Georgia Power Company will be filing this month for a fuel cost recovery with the Georgia PSC. According to Georgia Power fuel rates are to the point that they must recover the cost of the fuel required to generate electricity for customers. According to Georgia Power fuel cost recovery rates are set separately from the base rates.

The proposed new rates would increase by 6.8% or about $6.98 a month per 1,000 kilowatt hours. This will result in $470 million to Georgia Power's total annual fuel cost recovery. So if approved by the PSC this will go into effect on April 1, 2010.

The PSC will hold public hearings on the fuel recovery proposal. A final decision is expected on March 11, 2010.

This information comes from:

It would be wise for the citizens to contact the PSC and let them know how you feel on the subject of rates going up again. Many of these people in the real world are hurting from the slow down in the economy just like Georgia Power. But Georgia Power has the luxury of raising rates to recover their losses where those in the general public cannot.

Citizens on Social Security Pensions and Disability did not get a cost of living increase this year because the government said prices did not go up. Who are they trying to fool? Everything has gone up across the board not only for them, but for everyone.

People are tired of "taxation without representation" in our society. Tired of the large mega companies creating prices that the poor and needful cannot pay. Please get in touch with the PSC and let them know that we can't keep having these raises. We have raises in car and home insurance without notice beforehand, we have had raises in medical related items without prior knowledge and the list goes on and on. But the bottom line is this my friends. We are being eaten away by something brought about by Socialism. If you don't know what that means take a good look at our history of the last 60 years.
